Together AI has released Together Link, a free command-line tool that lets developers run open models such as Kimi K3 and GLM 5.3 inside coding agents they already use, instead of switching tools to try them. It launched in beta on 5 October and works with Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Pi Code, Claude Desktop and ChatGPT Desktop.

Setup is a single installer on macOS or Linux, plus a Together API key. Once installed, a developer can launch a specific harness directly, for example togetherlink claude or togetherlink codex, without changing how they already work day to day. The tool is open source under the MIT licence, and Together bills only for model usage through its own API.

The default mode uses an automatic router rather than a fixed model choice. Straightforward requests go to cheaper open models; harder ones get escalated to a larger model, such as Claude Opus, when the right API key is configured. Together's launch post claims this routing can cut model spend by more than half for teams that currently run everything through a single frontier model.

The pitch is really about switching cost. Developers who already have muscle memory for Claude Code or Codex do not want to learn a new interface just to try an open model; Together Link tries to remove that barrier entirely, routing the same prompts to cheaper models without changing the tool on screen. Being in beta, the command set and routing behaviour may still change before a stable release.
