Privacy Policy

This page explains what personal data Data AI Starter collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. We try to keep it short and plain.

Who we are

Data AI Starter (the "site") is operated by [YOUR NAME OR ORGANISATION] ("we", "us", "our"). We are the data controller for personal data collected through this site.

What we collect, why, and for how long

Contact form

When you send a message via the contact page we store your name, email address, the message itself, your IP address and your browser's user-agent string.

  • Why: legitimate interest — to read and respond to your message and to prevent spam abuse of the form.
  • Retention: deleted within 12 months of being marked handled, or sooner on request.

Newsletter subscription

If you subscribe to a newsletter we store your email address.

  • Why: your consent (you actively asked to be emailed).
  • Retention: until you unsubscribe. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.

Page-visit logs

For every public page request we record the path requested, response status, your IP address, a SHA-256 hash of your IP, your user-agent string, the city the IP geolocates to (if any), and the referring URL.

  • Why: legitimate interest — security monitoring, abuse prevention, and understanding what content is read.
  • Retention: raw IPs and user-agents are deleted after 30 days. Aggregated, non-identifying counts may be kept longer.

Admin accounts

Authors and administrators have an account with a name, email and bcrypt-hashed password.

  • Why: legitimate interest — operating the publication.
  • Retention: while the account is active, plus 6 months after closure for audit.

Cookies and analytics

We use only essential cookies (for the session and CSRF protection) and, where enabled, a cookieless analytics beacon (Cloudflare Web Analytics) that does not set cookies and does not build advertising profiles.

Who we share data with

We use the following processors. Each is bound by a written agreement and processes data on our instructions:

  • Hostinger International Ltd — hosting and database, EU/UK region.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. — content delivery network and, if enabled, cookieless web analytics.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share it for advertising. We only disclose it to third parties if compelled by law.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR / the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to:

  • access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • request erasure of your data ("right to be forgotten");
  • restrict or object to processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time (for processing based on consent, e.g. newsletter).

If you believe we have mishandled your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page when we make any change. Material changes will also be flagged on the homepage for at least 14 days.
