SpaceXAI, the renamed xAI following its merger with SpaceX, has released Grok 4.7, an incremental update aimed at coding and extended knowledge work. Unlike many model refreshes, the price has not moved: input and output tokens cost the same as they did under Grok 4.6.
The model carries a 500,000-token context window and accepts text and image input, though output remains text-only. SpaceXAI offers four reasoning-effort settings, low, medium, high and xhigh, letting developers trade latency against depth of reasoning on a per-request basis. Once a prompt crosses the 200,000-token mark, higher long-context rates apply retroactively to the whole request, so cost planning needs to account for where that threshold sits.
SpaceXAI describes Grok 4.7 as its most capable model yet for coding and multi-hour knowledge work, and it is positioned as an API-only release rather than a consumer chat update. It is available through the xAI API, the Grok Build platform, and as an option inside Cursor, putting it squarely in front of developers rather than general chatbot users.
Independent testing so far paints a more mixed picture than the company's own framing. Coverage of the release has noted that some of SpaceXAI's own benchmark comparisons pit Grok 4.7 at its highest reasoning setting against Grok 4.6 at a lower one, which flatters the newer model without being a like-for-like test. Buyers evaluating the upgrade should treat the headline gains as a starting point for their own testing rather than a settled result.
