OpenClaw has shipped version 2026.9.5, a release focused on reliability and reach rather than one headline feature. The update brings atomic updates, hot-reloadable plugins, conversation sharing and an expanded GPT Live, OpenClaw's live-assistance feature.
Atomic updates change how the installer handles upgrades. Rather than swapping package files first and finding out afterwards whether the new version works, the installer now validates the incoming release while the current Gateway keeps running, and only switches over once that check passes. That should cut down on the broken-update problems earlier releases have had.
Plugin hot reload lets a plugin be installed or updated without restarting the Gateway process, useful for anyone running OpenClaw continuously rather than as a one-off session. Conversation sharing lets a user pass a conversation on to someone else, extending the tool beyond solo use.
The biggest reach expansion is GPT Live, which now works inside Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom calls, and on phone calls, letting a user consult their OpenClaw agent mid-conversation without switching apps. That puts an AI assistant directly into live meetings rather than confining it to a chat window.
OpenClaw says the release lands several thousand pull requests from several hundred contributing accounts, reflecting the project's open development model. As with any fast-moving open-source release, some rough edges remain; an open regression reported against the hot-reload path is worth watching for anyone upgrading immediately.
